Day One London

Well the trip here was OK and we had a great sleep on our first night.
We are in a great location just across from the Tower of London, over the Tower Bridge and near Butlers Wharf. Quite a trendy restaurant area and we are living in a nice apartment on Queen Elizabeth street.
Craig wants to go for a "punt on the Thames". Mary Poppins lovers might rember that phrase, otherwise I have been on the look out for a TAB!
We went for the longest walk today. Along the Queen Elizabeth walk from home up to the Westminster bridge. We past Shakespeare's Globe theatre, Tate modern museum, London Eye and quite a few other noteable landmarks. When we made it to the parliament buildings we crossed over and listened to Big Ben chime 11am.
Westminster Abbey was our first main stop. Absolutely incredible and very impressive. Those royal weddings and funerals will never be the same again after being through it.
Then Buckingham palace. I'd hate to be trying to have a look on a summer day. Hundreds of tourists still around and the top temp today was forecast to be 5 degrees. We walked to Picadilly Circus before catching the train (underground) home.
We ate out last night at a nice Italian restaurant, and not sure what is happening tonight...
Very short days and it feels like 9pm and it's only 5pm. Makes it easy to go to bed early

  1. Sue, all sounds wonderful! Can see you & Craig gracing the aisles in Westminster Abbey. All you're missing here is a heat wave!
